Mary Pilon, will talk about the true history of Monopoly - a game invented by Elizabeth Magee in the early 1900s to teach people about the evils of capitalism that ended up being commercialized into one of the most successful board games ever — without Magee seeing a dime. We will play Monopoly while we learn about the game’s fascinating “true history”, the forgotten economist whose ideas Magee was trying to promote, and the lessons his ideas have for today as we experience a housing crisis all across the country.
