Kevin Beaty is an artist and journalist who's been covering Denver for a decade. He started off making short documentaries for Westword magazine and taking portraits for the Denver Business Journal. He was hired as a founding member of Denverite.com in 2016, which was acquired by Colorado Public Radio in 2019. In that position, he's been recognized for writing, radio stories, data analysis and design in addition to his visual journalism. He wears a lot of hats, but he still prefers digging into long-term photography projects when he gets the chance. Beaty received the Denver Public Library's 25th annual Eleanor Gehres Award in 2025 for his long-time documentation of the city; Westword named him "Best Storyteller" in their 2024 Best of Denver Awards.
